Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 22".
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 2" more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.

A ring of runes, raised against a darkened band.
Atlas carried the world on his back, mile after mile. Old symbols travel well, and this disc carries a whole ring of them. The 28mm open circle is titanium steel, with raised runes standing against a darkened band. It hangs on a 23.6 in (60cm) stainless steel curb chain, low on the chest where an open collar frames it. Choose natural steel or gold-tone.
- Steel that stays on in the water
- 28mm open disc ringed with runes
- Natural steel or gold-tone
Details & specs
The pendant is titanium steel with a recessed, blackened band carrying the ring of runes, so the characters stand out in relief. It hangs from a stainless steel curb chain, a flat-link style that lies close to the skin and resists twisting. Total weight is 15.6 g: present, without pulling at the neck.
The disc measures 28mm across with an open center that the chain passes through, which gives the piece movement as you wear it. It closes with a lobster clasp. The gold-tone version is a plated finish; the steel version is the natural metal. Both steels resist rust and corrosion. Choose by the metals you already wear.
How to wear it
With a white tee it lands mid-chest and carries the look by itself. Under an open shirt or a henley, undo one or two buttons and the disc sits right in the opening. For a layered look, pair it with a shorter plain chain and match the finish to your watch or rings.
Choosing your size
One length: 23.6 in (60cm). That is a long fit, several inches below the collarbone and roughly mid-chest on an average build, so the disc stays visible over a tee. Pick gold-tone if he wears warm-toned watches and rings, natural steel if the rest of his pieces are silver-tone. No other choice to make.
Why this piece
Runes you can read
The characters are raised against a darkened band, so they stay legible instead of disappearing into the metal.
Two steels, no rust
Titanium steel and stainless steel both resist rust, so the necklace stays on through workouts and washing up.

Questions
Can the rune circle stay on through workouts and washing up?
Yes. The titanium steel disc and the stainless steel curb chain both resist rust. Put it on after perfume so the blackened rune band keeps its contrast.
Where does the 28mm rune disc land on the 23.6 in chain?
Roughly mid-chest on an average build, several inches below the collarbone, so the disc stays visible over a tee.
Can I layer the rune circle with a shorter chain?
Yes. Pair it with a shorter plain chain and match the finish to your watch or rings. At 15.6 g in total, it sits without pulling at the neck.
What are runes?
Runes are the letters of the old Germanic and Norse alphabets, known as the futhark. Here a ring of them runs around the disc in a blackened band.
How does the disc hang?
The chain passes through the open center of the disc, so it moves freely as you wear it.
How big is the disc?
28mm across, a little larger than a US quarter.
Should I pick the steel or the gold-tone rune circle?
Gold-tone, a plated finish, if he wears warm-toned watches and rings. Natural steel if the rest of his pieces are silver-tone.
Why a curb chain?
A flat-link curb chain lies close to the skin and resists twisting, so the disc stays in front.
