Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 22".
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 2" more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.

Compass, runes, raven and Valknut on one deep-relief disc.
Atlas did not get to put the sky down when the weather turned. You keep going too. This titanium steel pendant packs Norse symbols into one round disc: a Vegvisir compass at the center, a ring of runes around the edge, a raven with open wings below and a Valknut at the base. It hangs on a 60 cm (23.6 in) wheat chain and sits on the upper chest.
- Titanium steel: water and sweat are fine
- Deep relief with darkened recesses
- 60 cm (23.6 in) wheat chain
Details & specs
Pendant and chain are titanium steel, a stainless steel alloy that does not rust and holds its shape through everyday wear, so you can keep it on in the shower and through training. The chain is a wheat link, a dense braided style that hangs straight instead of twisting, and a patterned bail carries the pendant.
The face is built in layers: the Vegvisir compass stave at the center, a ring of Norse runes around the outer edge, a raven with open wings below and a Valknut at the base. Darkened recesses sit behind the raised silver-tone surfaces, which gives the pendant depth and keeps the symbols legible even at arm's length.
How to wear it
Wear it over a black or white crew tee so the pendant has a clean background, or under an open collar with one or two buttons undone. It works with denim, leather and heavy knits, and pairs well with a steel watch. Keep it as the only necklace: the pendant is busy enough to be the focal point on its own.
Choosing your size
One length: 60 cm (23.6 in), which lands on the upper chest, a few inches below the collarbone, on most men. That keeps the pendant visible over a tee and clear of a jacket zipper. If he usually wears 20 in chains high on the neck, expect this one to sit noticeably lower and more openly on the chest.
Why this piece
Symbols with a story
The Vegvisir is an Icelandic stave said to guide the bearer through rough weather; the raven and the Valknut are both tied to Odin in Norse myth.

Questions
Can I train and shower with the raven Vegvisir pendant on?
Yes. Pendant and wheat chain are titanium steel, which does not rust. Rinse sweat out of the darkened recesses now and then so the raven and the runes stay sharp.
Is the pendant heavy?
You feel it on the chest, but the 60 cm (23.6 in) wheat chain spreads the weight and drapes flat without pulling.
What do the symbols mean?
The Vegvisir is a compass sign for finding the way; the raven and the Valknut come from the stories of Odin.
How is it different from the Vegvisir medallion with knotwork?
This one adds a ring of runes, a raven with open wings and a Valknut around the compass, on a wheat chain, in silver-tone only. The knotwork medallion frames the compass in Celtic knots on a box chain, in silver-tone or gold-tone.
Why does the Vegvisir wheat chain hang straight instead of twisting?
Because a wheat link is a dense, braided style that keeps its line. A patterned bail carries the compass pendant on it.
What do I wear it with?
It works with denim, leather and heavy knits, and pairs well with a steel watch.
Can I add another necklace?
It looks better alone. The pendant is busy enough to be the focal point, so keep it as your only necklace.
Can you make out the runes?
Yes, even at arm's length. Darkened recesses sit behind the raised silver-tone surfaces, which keeps the symbols legible.
