You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
With a ring that fits (most accurate)
- Lay a ring you wear on that finger on the ruler and measure the inside diameter, edge to edge, in inches.
- Find that diameter in the table below.
With a strip of paper
- Wrap the strip around the base of your finger: it must still slide over the knuckle.
- Mark where it overlaps, lay it flat and measure it in inches: that is the circumference. Find it in the table below.
Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.

Half sizes sit halfway between two rows (about 0.4 mm of diameter).
Good to know: measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger. Wide bands (8 mm and more) feel tighter: if you are between two sizes, take the larger one. Tungsten carbide cannot be resized, so it is worth measuring twice.
Black facets outside, a channel of gold-tone flakes lit from within.
Atlas carried the world. You carry your day: the commute, the calls, the dinner table, the people who lean on you. This ring is built to keep pace. It is an 8mm tungsten carbide band in black, cut into small hammered facets, with a channel of gold-tone flakes running the whole way around between two thin gold-tone lines. Solid black from across a table, warm detail up close. US 7 to 13 in half sizes.
- No rust from the shower or the sea
- Gold-tone flakes between two thin lines
- 13 sizes, US 7 to 13
Details & specs
The band is tungsten carbide with a black electroplated finish, and we say so. Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials used in jewelry, so the surface holds up to daily contact better than softer metals, and it does not rust. At 8mm wide it has real presence and a weight you feel every time you close your hand.
The outer surface is cut into small hammered facets that catch the light from different angles. Down the center sits an inlay of gold-tone flakes and clear crystalline pieces, bordered by two fine gold-tone bands, so the pattern looks a little different on every ring. The inside is smooth and polished so it slides on easily.
How to wear it
Wear it on the ring or middle finger with a black or grey watch and keep the rest of the hand clean, so the gold-tone inlay stays the focal point. It works with a white tee and denim on the weekend and with a dark suit and an open collar in the evening. If you stack, keep the second ring plain and black.
Choosing your size
Sizes run from US 7 to 13, including every half size from 7.5 up to 12.5. Wide rings feel tighter than narrow ones, so if you are between sizes or already wear a slim band, go up half a size. Tungsten carbide cannot be resized, so measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest.
Why this piece
Hard where it counts
Tungsten carbide is extremely hard and resists scratching, so the band keeps its shape and surface through everyday use.
Black and gold, done quietly
The black keeps it understated while the thin gold-tone lines add just enough contrast for a suit or a plain tee.

Questions
Can the hammered gold-tone flake ring stay on through showers and training?
Yes, tungsten carbide does not rust. Dry it with a soft cloth afterward to look after the black plating and the gold-tone inlay.
Should I size up for the 8mm hammered gold-tone flake ring?
Yes, by half a size if you are between sizes or already wear a slim band, since wide rings feel tighter. Tungsten carbide cannot be resized.
Will the black and gold-tone last?
Both are plated finishes made for daily wear. Clean with mild soapy water, dry fully, and take the ring off for heavy lifting or work with harsh chemicals.
What are the clear bits in the inlay?
Clear crystalline pieces mixed in with the gold-tone flakes. They catch the light differently from the flakes, so the pattern looks a little different on every ring.
Is the outside smooth or textured?
Textured. It is cut into small hammered facets that catch the light from different angles, while the inside is smooth and polished.
Is the ring mostly gold-tone?
No. The band is black; the gold-tone shows only in the center channel of flakes and the two fine lines that border it.
What makes tungsten carbide so hard to scratch?
It is a compound of tungsten and carbon that sits near 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, far above steel. Everyday contact with keys and desks leaves little mark on it.
