Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 22".
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 2" more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.

Chain width
Four braided strands, 3mm wide: texture instead of flash.
Atlas never let the sky slip, not once. Consistency is the quiet part of carrying anything, and this chain is built for it. A 3mm wheat weave in stainless steel, it sits close and flat with enough texture to catch light when you move. Over a black tee it reads as a clean line; under an open collar it shows just enough. Silver-tone or gold-tone, in 20, 24 or 28 inches.
- Stainless steel: the water is no problem
- Braided 3mm wheat links
- Three lengths: 20, 24 or 28 in
Details & specs
The chain is stainless steel in a wheat weave, also called a keel chain. Four strands of links interlock into a dense, rounded rope that stays flexible and drapes evenly instead of twisting flat. Stainless steel does not rust, so daily wear, sweat, showers and the sea need no special treatment.
The surface is polished, so the braid picks up light along its whole length rather than in one bright spot. Silver-tone is the steel's natural shine; gold-tone is a plated finish. It closes with a lobster clasp and a solid ring. At 3mm it is wide enough to be seen and slim enough to layer.
How to wear it
Wear it alone over a plain white or black tee for the simplest version. Under an open collar shirt it frames the neckline without competing, and it pairs well with a steel watch or a leather band on the wrist. At 3mm it also layers cleanly under or over a longer chain or a pendant.
Choosing your size
20" (50 cm) sits at the base of the neck, just below the collarbone, the easiest length under a collar. 24" (60 cm) rests on the upper chest and shows well over a tee. 28" (70 cm) drops further down for a longer, relaxed line or for hanging a pendant. If he has a broader neck or chest, size up one step from the length you had in mind.
Why this piece
Texture, not flash
The braided wheat pattern gives depth and movement where a flat curb chain just shines.
Made to stay on
Stainless steel does not rust and does not turn your skin green, and the lobster clasp keeps it closed all day.

Questions
Does sea water or sweat harm the 3mm wheat braid?
No. Stainless steel does not rust, so sweat, showers and the sea need no special treatment. Dry it after a swim so the four interlocked strands stay bright.
Can it carry a pendant?
Yes. The 3mm braid takes a pendant well; choose 24" or 28" so it hangs on the chest rather than at the throat.
Where do the 20, 24 and 28 in lengths of the 3mm wheat chain sit?
20" (50 cm) sits at the base of the neck, just below the collarbone, 24" (60 cm) rests on the upper chest and shows well over a tee, and 28" (70 cm) drops further for a relaxed line or a pendant.
What is a keel chain?
Another name for the wheat chain: four strands of links interlocked into a dense, rounded rope.
What does the 3mm wheat chain pair with on the wrist?
A steel watch or a leather band. Silver-tone is the steel's natural shine and suits steel; gold-tone is a plated finish for a warmer look.
Is there an 18 in length?
No. It comes in 20, 24 or 28 in, and 20 in sits at the base of the neck, just below the collarbone.
How does the clasp close?
A lobster clasp hooks onto a solid ring at the other end, easy to check before you leave the house.
Wheat chain or box chain?
A box chain is crisp and square. A wheat chain is round and braided, so it picks up light along its whole length.
